Cerebral vein thrombosis due to spontaneous intracranial hypotension: a case report and review of literature

Intracranial hypotension is characterized by low cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) pressure in the cranial cavity, which is due to significant head, spinal injury or iatrogenic reasons ,such as lumbar puncture or spontaneous spinal CSF leakage. Without such a history, we define it spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH), which is characterized by the appearance or worsening of preexisting headaches within minutes of change in the body posture, from supine to standing position and improvement or even disappearance of the pain after acquiring the recumbent position. Here we present a 37 year old man with postural headache and neck pain after one month poor appetite developed cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) show up as seizures and subsequent tinnitus.
