Middle-upper Yangtze region marine shale gas accumulation characteristics analysis

Recently the middle-upper Yangtze region has become a hot spot for China's shale gas exploration. Comparing with several typical shale gas reservoirs in U.S., Longmaxi-Wufeng shale gas reservoir is similar to that of Haynesville. According to the location and the characteristics of tectonic, shale reservoirs can be divided into tectonic reworking area and tectonic stable area. Marine Siliurian Wufeng-Longmaxi organic-rich shale distrabutes widely, with proper thickness and depth for development. The exploration practice indicates that reservoir overpressure shows good preservation condition. So it is the main target for shale gas exploration and development.
