A multi-objective optimization method for regional water ecological carrying capacity: A case study of Huzhou City, China

The study of regional water ecological carrying capacity can provide the scientific basis of coordinating the relationship between water ecological system and social and economic system. Based on the basis of previous studies, the concept of water ecological carrying capacity was proposed and the multi-objective optimization model was established for predicting and optimizing the regional water ecological carrying capacity. The multi-objective optimization model was solved by the fuzzy mathematics method. Then the Huzhou City was studied by the proposed approach. Five scenarios were set and optimized by the proposed model. According to the high pollution control scenario, 263.6×10~4 persons and 1.91 x 10" Yuan GDP can be carried by its water ecological system in 2015. The ecological water demand is also guaranteed, and the use rate of water environmental capacity is 96.0%, and the utilization rate of water resources is 39.4%.
