In recent years, low salinity waterflooding (LSWF) is considered as a favorable technique for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). LSWF has an edge over other EOR techniques due to environmental aspect and low-cost operation but the uncertain mechanism limits its potential in EOR. Many experiments and modelling techniques suggest the surface charge significantly affecting the wettability alteration crude oil-brine-rock system. However, a quantitative estimation of interface properties is still missing in the proposed model to relate the wettability alteration and surface charge. Our previous studies proposed a triple-layer surface complexation model for crude oil/brine1) and calcite/brine interfaces.
