The Ni-16Cr-15Mo (wt. %) alloy is the most commonly used screw material for injection moulding of F-containing resins or plastics. However, due to its low hardness, it exhibits relatively low wear resistance compared to CoCrMo alloy, which greatly limits its application to the injection moulding of some sophisticated products. Recent research indicated that the development of a novel alloy based on Ni-Cr-Mo but with partial substitution of Co for Ni, could provide a material with enhanced wear performance without sacrificing the level of corrosion resistance. In order to further enhance both the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of alloy cold forging and aging treatment were applied to the alloys. The influences of both cold forging on both the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of alloys were discussed for the first time.
