摘要

High temperature application of Ti-alloys is limited by its poor oxidation resistance over 650°C. One way to overcome this obstacle is application of TiAl-based intermetallic coatings. These coatings can have excellent high temperature mechanical properties and oxidation resistance. Titanium aluminide is able to ensure fair oxidation resistance up to 800°C. Further enhancement of oxidation behavior could be realized by addition of elements such as Cr, Nb or Ta.
