Individual tumors display invidual biomarker profiles which can be exploited as highly specific vaccination targets for efficient immune response against the individual tumor tissue of the individual patient. The mRNA-based approach was already introduced more than 10 years ago [1]. Initially, it relied on the preparation of total mRNAs from tumor tissues. This approach has several obvious disadvantages: the composition of these mRNA preparations is not well defined, the amount of critically important mRNA species may be too low, and self-antigens in the mRNA pool may trigger autoimmunity.
