CT scanners, typically provide service to two kinds of patients: outpatients and inpatients. The outpatients have to make an appointment in advance while inpatients needn't make an appointment because they arrive randomly, so the managers have to consider how much capacity that should be reserved for the inpatients before they allocate the available capacity to outpatients. A combinatorial auction model was built to compute the daily reservation amount for the inpatients. The whole outpatients who make appointment in advance can be regarded as a bidder in classic combinatorial auction problem, and the medical department is considered to be a tenderer. The process of capacity allocation of CT equipment is regarded as a bidding process between the whole outpatients and the medical department in order to find an optimal slot combination for outpatients and make a proper reservation for inpatients. Genetic algorithm was developed to solve the model we built. Finally, through empirical analysis, the algorithm is verified and an optimal allocation strategy was gained.
