Random Sampling Slope-ADC (RSS-ADC) has been described as a new Analog-toDigital Converter (ADC) architecture which can be used for sparse spectrum sensing with its simplicity in hardware realization. However, the sampling instances are signal-dependent and the important prior information contained in the signal is underused. In this paper, a new Variable-Slope Sampling ADC (VSS-ADC) is proposed. The VSSS-ADC introduces the energy criteria to increase the lowest possible sampling intervals. The slope of the reference signal varies with the energy of the input signal and the bigger the input signal energy is the larger the slope is and vise versa. Simulation results show that the VSS-ADC system can acquire higher perfect recovery rate than the RSS-ADC at the same compression ratio and can also reduce the lowest sampling interval.
