Transparent glass-ceramics (GCs) based on ZnO and β-Zn_2SiO_4 nanocrystals and doped with Er~(3+) and Yb~(3+) ions are synthesized on the basis of a zinc potassium alimunosilicate glass by secondary heat treatments. Their structure is studied with XRD, TEM and Raman spectroscopy. The concentration of RE~(3+) ions determines the character of phase separation of the initial glass. Green Stokes and anti-Stokes emissions of Er3~+ ions are detected from GCs. These GCs are promising for development of ZnO → RE~(3+) energy-transfer materials, for white light generation, as well as for polyfunctional materials codoped with Co~(2+) and Er~(3+) ions for self-Q-switched lasers.
