Thermochemical gas compressor using metal-metal hydride system offers several operational and economicadvantages over the traditional mechanical hydrogen compression. The V-Ti-Cr bcc alloys have beenconsidered as a potential candidate for the development of metal-hydride based thermochemical compressor. Inconnection to this, two alloys of V-Ti-Cr namely: (1) V20Ti32Cr48 and (2) V40Ti21.5Cr38.5 were selected, and theircyclic hydrogen absorption-desorption performance was evaluated up to 100 cycles for temperature andpressure ranges of 20-300 oC and 5- 20 MPa, respectively. It has been found that the cyclic hydrogen storagecapacity continuously decreased for the 1st composition while it was stable after 10 cycles for the 2ndcomposition. In order to improve the cyclic performance further, the fourth element has been substituted for Cr.Niobium and Iron were chosen as the substituting elements due to their various merits.
