Aim: Very high strengths with ductility have been reported in Mg-Zn-Y alloys containing icosahedralquasicrystalline phase [1]. In this study the effect of composition on microstructure formation by extrusionof Mg-Zn-Y alloys, and their mechanical properties, have been investigated.
