Attempts to replace fish meal in practical fish diets with soybean meal (SBM) have been made for last decades, and met with some valuable success. However, the application of high level SBM in fish diets have resulted in reducing growth rate and poorfeed conversion efficiency due to anti-nutritional factors, amino acid imbalance, and lack of phosphorus utilization offish. No studies have been carried out on the post-prandial changes of serum cholesterol relating to SBM based diets in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), while a few studies have been conducted on bile acid changes and free plasma amino acid (Avery et al., 1992; Larsen et al., 2012). Thus, in order to evaluate the lipid utilization of SBM based diets for rainbow trout, post-prandialchanges of serum cholesterol were estimated for 24hrs after feeding the diets in this study.
