摘要

The cardiovascular drug verapamil (VRP) belongs to group of calcium channel blockers and its presence in aquatic environment is well documented. Little is known about VRP effects on metabolic processes in fish. In general, most calcium channel blockers including VRP are metabolized by cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes. Cytochrome isoforms CYP1A2, CYP2C8, CYP2C9, CYP2D6, CYP2E1, CYP3A3 and CYP3A5 play major role in metabolism of VRP in human hepatocytes.
