Metal Injection moulding is a well established technology for producing intricate metallic components by single and 2-component injection moulding. Injection moulding of 2 MIM feedstocks produces a material to material bonded joint of two materials. The metals can have either equal or different chemistry. After sintering usually a sinter bonded part is achieved. By proper powder and feedstock selection the shrinkage can be adjusted that the two materials will not sinter together and do not create a metallurgical bonding. Thus components with positive locking which can not be separated can be produced similar to assembly moulding of plastics. With this technology a variety of applications e.g. hinges can be realised where subsequent assembly operations can be saved.
