This paper presents an experimental investigation of unsaturated soil behavior under triaxial stress paths. An implicit integration technique has been implemented to simulate unsaturated soil response along matric suction/stress-controlled triaxial stress paths. The algorithm supports numerical analyses in a devi-atoric stress plane using a mixed control constitutive driver, in conjunction with a generalized Cam-Clay model, within a constant-suction scheme. Triaxial data from a series of drained (controlled-suction) triaxial compression (TC), and triaxial extension (TE) tests, conducted on cylindrical specimens of residual soil, were used for the tuning and validation of the implicit algorithm. Satisfying agreement was observed between experimentaland predicted deviatoric stress versus axial and radial strain response for different matric suction.
