The objective of this white paper is to give insight into the development of VoiceXML products, Ascent's voice integration technology product - the AscenTel Server - as well the benefit and the need for these products in the energy industry. Recognition of both the potential and need for voice access to the web led to the creation of VoiceXML by the VoiceXML Forum. VoiceXML is a scripting language that enables companies to build telephone-based voice applications faster and cheaper, while leveraging their existing investment in web technology and infrastructure.
