The BESIII experiment at the BEPCII electron-positron collider is successfully operating since 2008 and has collected large data samples in the tau-charm mass region, including the world's largest data samples at the J/ψ and ψ(2S) resonances. In particular their decays provide a rich and clean environment to study hadrons consisting of light quarks and to search for exotics. In this report, recent BESIII results of the light hadron physics program will be highlighted.
