Aerospace Education without an Aerospace Department: A Case Study for Interdisciplinary, Hands-on Projects

Large numbers of aerospace engineers are retiring in the next decade. The pool of new talent tends to be from universities with large aerospace departments, but the number of new graduates from these programs currently can't, and in the future probably won't, meet the industry demand. We will explore a new approach to aerospace engineering education that relies on interdisciplinary, team-based, hands-on experiential learning through student aerospace projects.
