Two in vivo experiments with fattening pigs fed in total 32 compound feeds were carried out to determine organic matter digestibility (DCQM) and net energy content (NE). Feeds and ffeeze-dried faeces were analysed and scanned with NLRS in the range from 400 to 2,500 mil. Calibrations were developed with spectra from feeds alone and with combined spectra from feeds and faeces obtained by averaging, merging, subtraction or division. Merged spectra from feeds and faeces resulted in a clearly better prediction of DC0M and NE and have potential to reflect variation between feeds, pens and farms.
