The First Bulgarian Textbooks on Physics

This paper describe the sources used when creating the first Bulgarian textbooks on physics - from the textbook of Nayden Gerov (1823-1900) "Conclusion from Physics", part one to the textbook of Ivan Gyuzelev. Preparing and issuing it is a big step for that time. Nayden Gerov performs a difficult task by studying and processing various foreign sources in physics, from which he derives only this material, which, in his opinion, will be most useful to Bulgarian readers and which will prepare the ground for mastering a broader and deeper knowledge in the future. For almost 20 years after the publication of Naiden Gerov there are no attempts to create a textbook on physics. The second textbook is the translation of the first part of Gano's "Experimental Physics" from French, printed in 1868, and a comparatively complete course in experimental physics (612 pages and 368 figures). The translation is by Joakim Gruev (1828-1912) - student of N. Gerov. Until the Liberation, another Bulgarian, who received his higher education in Russia, published a textbook on physics. This is Ivan Gyuzelev (1844-1916). His textbook was published in 1874 in Prague under the title "Guide to Physics". Despite all the incompleteness, inaccuracies, and deviations from faithful scientific explanations, this book is also a step forward in entering the complex field of physical science.
