With around 60% of urban population by 2030 [Frost and Sullivan], urban air pollution is one of the most challenges facing the world, not only for greenhouse gas emissions, but also for health damaging pollutants, namely NOx, Particle, HC and CO. This will heavily impact the transportation sector as one of the biggest contributors to urban pollution. Regions, countries and cities are looking for options to improve air quality in their communities through electrification. Whilst emission standards at a national level drive much of the move to electrification, an add-on factor is what local authorities are doing to strengthen further the pollution and noise constraints [https://www.interactanalysis.com/electric-commercial-truck-market]. The so called "diesel gate" that occurred in 2015 has increased public awareness about diesel engines real emissions and generated pressure to ban diesel vehicles. Megacities like London, Paris and Shanghai down to smaller, regional urban areas are looking to ban the diesel-fueled and even the combustion vehicles from their roads within the next five to ten years.
