A MEDIUM MACK ATTACK: Midsized model addition to Mack's Granite truck line targets lighter-duty-cycle applications

Mack Trucks has begun shipping its midsized offering in the company's Granite line of conventional straight trucks. The Granite medium heavy-duty (MHD) truck was first unveiled last spring and is designed to take the strengths of larger Mack trucks - galvanized steel construction, Cornerstone frame and enhanced durability - and put them in a smaller package more suited toward shorter runs, Mack said. "The market for this is someone who is looking for a premium product, something that is going to be a little lighter price-wise and weight- wise," said Curtis Dorwart, vocational market product manager for Mack. "You're looking at someone like a small contractor or municipality, who has lighter duty cycles, shorter runs where you may not need quite the horsepower and torque as a 13 L."
