This research examines questions that are relevant to food retailers and manufacturers, public policy makers, and consumers with critical implications for a substantial issue in marketplace, namely food waste.Specifically, the following research questions are addressed: 1.Do expiration label dates of food products affect consumers’purchase intentions and attribute inferences? 2.Do the effects of expiration label dates on purchase intentions and attribute inferences vary across label type(e.g., sell by, best by, use by)? 3.Which attribute inferences will mediate the effects of expiration labeling on purchase intentions?
