Battery storage is of great significance in the absorption of renewable energy and enhancing the stability and flexibility of the grid. At present, the main methods to promote the development of energy storage are economic subsidies and public education. However, subsidies have a heavy financial burden, and the intensity is difficult to control, of which too strong or weak will affect the industry’s health. Behavioral economics suggests that human decision-making is regulated by psychological and behavioral incentives. This paper aims to study the incentive effect of behavioral and psychological methods on battery users. Based on behavioral economics, a user incentive model with three dimensions of economic benefit, social norm and spiritual motivation was designed. Validation and correlation analysis are conducted through empirical study, and the incentive model is obtained by regression. The results show that behavioral incentives result in a 16.4% increase in users’ intention to purchase battery storage. This paper provides a new perspective for integrating behavioral economics into the field of the energy system.
