NEAR-SHORE FLOATING LIQUEFIED GAS STORAGE AND PROCESSING

There is continued growth in the application of natural gas for both industrial and domestic consumption and for electrical power generation. This has led to an increase in its global and local transhipment in its cooled transitory form of LNG, primarily by sea. This is generating a significant and rising demand for small LNG carriers, bunker vessels, together with small scale storage, processing and offloading vessels and power generating barges etc. Drawing on nearly two decades of experience in the design and evaluation of numerous new-build design, conversion and upgrades of offshore FLNG vessels and FSRUs together with a decade of experience in the design of conventional and highly novel and innovative LNGCs and other gas carriers, of all capacities and configurations, the authors consider the development and increasing deployment of small scale floating LNG throughout the world.
