For some applications, polymer composites with a high thermal conductivity are desirable. The aim of this study is to design a polypropylene-based formulation with a thermal conductivity (TC) better than 10 W/m.K perpendicular to the plane of injection molding. As this represents a challenging target for thermal conductivity, various graphites at high loading (from 60 to 85%) were evaluated to examine the influence of graphite choice on performance. In an attempt to boost orientation perpendicular to the plane and to optimize processability, some minerals and additives at limited loading were also tested in combination with graphite as the main additive.
