A new generation of quieter air ducts: Towards a silent HVAC system

T-series is a DECI-TEX technology provided by L&L Products. It is a thermoplastic composite and can be described as a self-supporting sound absorber. This technology can easily be used to create the new generation of quieter air ducts and HVAC units. The solution improves airflow noise significantly without any pressure loss. The main points of this paper are: · Why does HVAC noise matter more and more? · Presentation of the T-series technology · Description of the acoustic transfer path in automotive HVAC systems · Description of the acoustic bench used to show how the technology is working and outlet noise improvement results
