The use of GFRP springs in commercial vehicles, especially in semi-trailers, offers great payload potential and opportunities for reducing CO_2 [1], which are no longer possible with classic materials and methods [2,3,4,5,6,7]. Production and successful practical application have been proven, but it has not yet been possible to open up all cost potentials for wide use in series production. The use of innovative technologies in joining technology offers a standardization of the components of the air suspension, which puts a limit on investment costs and thus favors the use of GFRP springs. However, their sustainable use in series production will only succeed when all aspects of vehicle production, operation and GFRP-compliant design are taken into account.
