Feline arterial thrombo-embolism (FATE) is characterised by the migration of a blood clot from the left auricle/atrium to the distal aorta. The genesis for thrombus is better described using the conditions referred to as Virchow's triad: blood stasis, hypercoagulability and endothelial damage.
