The production and use ofbiodiesel benefits the development of a sustainable energy source in terms of the environmental, economic and social aspects and it also brings the perspective of the reduction of diesel oil imports in Brazil. The combustion and exhaust emissions characteristics of a diesel engine are affected by the fuel spray and the atomization characteristics as well as by the properties of the fuel. The aim of this study was to evaluate the power and torque of a diesel engine fueled with, at different times, commercial mineral diesel and blends of this diesel with the macaw palm oil biodiesel in proportions equivalent to B20, B50, B80 and B100. In Brazil, in 2016, according to the law, commercial mineral diesel fuel was composed of 7% of biodiesel and 93% of diesel fuel. For the tests, an AGCO Sisu Power 420DS diesel engine of an A 950 Valtra tractor was used. The 1585 ISO ABNT standard was used for carrying out the tests. At the PTO speed rotation of 540 rpm, there was a power reduction of 28.6% when using B100 biodiesel compared to the commercial diesel and, when using B20, a power gain of 1.6% compared to the commercial diesel was observed. The torque, at the PTO speed rotation of 540 rpm, when using B100 biodiesel, had a reductionof 17.4% compared to the commercial diesel and, when using B20, a gain of 1.9% compared to the commercial diesel.
