Infrared thermography (IRT) is a non-invasive temperature detection technology that has the characteristics of non-destructive, long-distance measurement and high sensitivity. It can measure mid to long-wave infrared radiation emanating from all objects and converts this into a human-readable image or video, so as to show the object's temperature distribution and temperature changes. Since temperature is an important environmental parameter that affects livestock physiology and metabolic heat production. Measurement of animal temperature and energy exchange in the field environment is crucial for understanding physiological changes in animals. However, traditional measurement methods of animal local temperature are extremely time-consuming and labor-intensive costly. As a non-contact method, infrared thermography provides a new direction for physiological data acquisition. It is worth noting that infrared thermography is subject to a number of uncertainties that require optimal modeling through built-in software methods. Therefore, this paper reviews the application of this technology in livestock production, including reproduction, growth and diseases, and discusses some of the better-known approaches and the latest findings on livestock infraredthermography for peer research and application.
