The AD421 is a complete, loop-powered, digital to 4mA to 20mA converter. It is a single chip, high performance, low cost solution for generating 4mA to 20mA signals. In this paper, the features and the principle of AD421 are introduced. An example of the application of AD421 in the frequency converter control system is discussed. The structure of the system and the design of hardware and software are presented.
