The linear-chain states of ~(14)C and ~(16)C are investigated by using antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. The calculated properties of the linear-chain states in ~(14)C are compared with the observed data. The results for the π-bond linear-chain states reasonably agree with the observation by resonant scattering experiments. On the other hand, the σ-bond linear-chain states is a good candidate of the higher-lying resonance observed by the breakup reaction. These two types of the linear-chain show the characteristic decay patterns. Hence, we regard that this unique decay patterns are a strong evidence of the linear-chain formation.
