There is some evidence that stem cell therapy improves musculoskeletal repair in the horse. The mechanism of patient response to stem cell therapy is only partly understood. Applying what we have learned from the horse to all veterinary species shouldspeed advancements in understanding and appropriate use of stem cell therapies.In order to best utilize stem cell therapies we need to fully understand them - what i intended purpose of the selected therapy and how does it relate to the treatment effect of cells? Regenerative and stem cell therapies for musculoskeletal disorders have be< commonplace in the horse and we have learned a great deal that should be helpful to all veter clinicians.
