There has been much progress in understanding of the pathogenesis of equine traumatic joint disease and identification of targets for therapies.Increased sophistication in clinical diagnosis (including objective assessment of lameness) and evolution of advanced imaging techniques as facilitated early diagnosis and prevention or reduction of post traumatic osteoarthritis.Most of the conventional therapies have been validated with scientific studies to provide better evidence based medicine for the new biologic therapies such as autologous conditioned serum and mesenchymal stem cells have already shown improved success with a number of joint problems.
