PERI OPERATIVE MANAGEMENT OF BRACHYCEPHALICS: OPTIMIZINGSUCCESS

Brachycephalic breeds, especially English and French Bulldogs have a high complication rate (26-44%) and high mortality rate (3-5.5%).Upper airway obstruction and vomiting/regurgitation leading to aspiration are the two most common lethal peri-operative complications.Pre-operative grading of respiratory and GI signs may help guide drug choices and management and monitoring strategies to avoid these complications.
