A new polyepoxysuccinic acid copolymer (ESA/AMPS) was prepared from 2-Acrylamido-2-Methylpropane Sulfonic acid (AMPS) with Epoxysuccinic Acid (ESA). The performances of scale inhibition against Ca_3(PO_4)_2, dispersion of Fe_2O_3, and biodegradability of the ESA/AMPS copolymer were studied. The results indicated that when the concentration of ESA/AMPS copolymer was 35 mg/L, the scale inhibition rate against Ca_3(PO_4)_2 was 100%, and 61% of the copolymer could be biodegraded within 28 days.
