With the demand for customized ankle-foot orthotics on the rise, there is also a heightened demand for an updated method of producing these devices. As the rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing industries continue to flourish, utilizing 3D scanning and 3D printing technology to achieve the goal of producing customized ankle-foot orthotics becomes increasingly attractive. The objective of the following study was to devise an efficient and effective method to manufacture a customized ankle-foot orthotic. The process will produce ankle-foot orthotics quickly, with accuracy, will be repeatable, comfortable for the patient, and flexible to design modifications.
