Fertilization with UAN on a natural grassland dominated by Festuca rubra L. and Agrostis capillar is L.

A field experiment was established in 2014, in the eastern part of Apuseni Mountains, with the aim of evaluating the effects of the fertilization with UAN (a liquid fertilizer containing 32% of nitrogen) on the dry matter (DM) yield and floristic composition of a natural grassland. The treatments were 0, 50, 75 and 100 kg ha~(-1) of UAN. The grass was cut once in 2014 and in 2015, and DM yield and botanical composition were determined. The natural meadow of Festuca rubra L. and Agrostis capillaris L.responded very well to the application of the liquid fertilizer. In situations where increased production is required the use of liquid nitrogen fertilizers may be advisable because of their positive effect on the DM yields of natural grasslands.
