Fast-Automated Demand Response (FastADR) system isone of the expected measures to control electricity demand ofconsumers so that the electricity supply – demand balancing in ashort time horizon is improved. In FastADR the demandpower is controlled according to the reference power controlsignals from the utility side. Due to their high power consumptionin business buildings, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning(HVAC) loads are one of the candidates for FastADR system.However, the response of HVAC loads does not perfectly followexternal control signals as shown in Figure 1. Battery EnergyStorage System (BESS) can be useful to supplement powerconsumption of HVAC loads in following FastADR signals.
