Aiming at the problem that the existing control pattern cannot satisfy the motion characteristics of the 3-PRS-XY series-parallel machining tool, a control system is proposed for the 3-PRS-XY series-parallel machining tool based on the GTS series motion control card in this paper. The PC and the motion control card are utilized to constitute an open numerical control system. The pulse signal and direction are used to achieve the movement of mechanism. The interface of control system and the function about kinematic calculation are developed by Microsoft Visual C++. The library function in motion control card is called by program to control the mechanism. The developed control system is verified by experiments. And the results show that this control system could control the 3-PRS-XY series-parallel mechanism effectively. To a certain extent, this research could provide a useful guidance for the development of control system.
