Electrical Characterization of Ionic Liquid Based Magnesium Ion Conducting Polymer Gel Electrolytes

Ionic liquid based polymer gel electrolytes using magnesium salts comprising of {poly(vinyldeneflouride-co-hexa-fluoropropylene)}-{1 -Ethyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium tetra fluoro borate}-{propylene carbonate}-{magnesium per chlorate} [PVdF(HFP)-(EDiMIM)(BF_4)-PC-Mg(C1O_4)_2] has been synthesized using solution cast techniques. The maximum room temperature electrical conductivity was found to be 8.4 x 10~(-3) S cm~(-1). The temperature dependent ionic conductivity studies show the VTF behaviour of polymer gel electrolytes. The ionic transport number measurements have been calculated using d.c polarization method and were found to be 0.97. The electrochemical potential window of polymer gel electrolytes have been tested and observed to be~ 3.0 V. Synthesized polymer gel electrolyte has been characterized using dielectric and modulus studies as well.
