In this work we have investigated the effect of dedoped (insulating) polyaniline (PAni) nanofibers on the electrical and electrochemical properties of PMMA based gel polymer electrolytes. PAni nanofibers have been synthesized using interfacial polymerization technique. From the scanning electron micrographs (SEM) of PMMA based gel composite polymer electrolytes it has been observed that with the addition of plasticizer and filler (dedoped PAni nanofibers) up to 4 wt%, pore size increases while porous structure is almost vanished at 8 wt% of nanofibers content. Beyond 4 wt% of filler content, the nanofibers get phase separated from the PMMA matrix and form insulating clusters, which leads to the decrease of pore size. X-ray diffraction pattern shows that the addition of dedoped PAni nanofibers in the polymer electrolytes increases amorphicity of PMMA-(PC+DEC)-LiC1O_4 gel polymer electrolyte system up to a moderate concentration of dedoped PAni nanofibers (4 wt.%) . From the impedance spectroscopy result it has been observed that the incorporation of dedoped PAni nanofibers up to a moderate concentration (4 wt.%) to PMMA-(PC+DEC)-LiC1O_4 gel polymer electrolyte system significantly enhances the ionic conductivity of the electrolyte system. Studies on electrochemical behavior reveal that electrochemical potential window increases with the increase of nanofibers loading.
