The influence of CuCl_2?2H_2O and FeCl_3?6H_2O on the thermal hazard of cumene hydroperoxide was studied in this paper. The thermal hazard rating value of CHP was quantified. The thermal decomposition of CHP and CHP mixed with CuCl_2?2H_2O and FeCl_3?6H_2O was studied by DSC calorimeter and vent sizing package 2 (VSP2), such as exothermic onset temperature, peak power, heat of decomposition of dynamic scanning tests, adiabatic self-heating rate, pressure rise rate, maximum temperature, maximum pressure, etc. The classification results of CHP were obtained by analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and risk matrix. The results shown that the exothermic onset temperature increased with CHP mixed with CuCl_2?2H_2O and decreased with FeCl_3?6H_2O. But the maximum of some parameters such as self-heating rate decreased. The classification results of CHP mixed with CuCl_2?2H_(2O) are same as the result of CHP and classification results of CHP mixed with FeCl_3?6H_2O is higher than that of CHP. The results of this paper can be helpful in storage, transportation and disposal guidelines.
