In the aerospace industry, about 70% of the allowance of integral impeller is cut off by the rough machining. Therefore, how to remove the blank margin efficiently is the bottleneck of improving productivity in the NC machining of integral impeller. For solving this problem, a variable-axis contour machining strategy for rough machining is put forward in UG, and a simulation environment of DMU50 five-axes machining center is built by VERICUT. The feasibility of the provided variable contour strategies for rough machining is tested through the machining simulation of the integral impeller.
