The present collaboration in the Dragon programme has provided important new insights. This work was supported by both the Chinese and Italian government funding schemes that allowed an exchange of expertise. This collaboration will continue in the Dragon 4 programme, within the BioGeoLakes project (New Earth Observation tools for biogeochemical studies of Yangtze Valley lakes) which is part of the EOWAQYWET project.
