Optical and thermal studies of polymer nanocomposites

摘要

In this present work, carbon nanotube was used as the dopant for the synthesis of polymer nanocomposites. Polymer and polymer nanocomposites were synthesized in aqueous medium with and without CNT. The optical studies of the nanocomposites were characterized using various techniques viz. FTIR, UV-Vis-NIR and Raman spectroscopy. From FTIR spectrum, it is clear about the polymerization of monomer and from Raman Spectroscopy, the presence of CNT in the synthesized nanocomposites is evident. The thermal studies of nanocomposites were done by thermo gravimetric analysis. TGA data reveals that the nanocomposites has good thermal stability almost as same as that of the monomer. The optical and thermal studies reveal that the polymer nanocomposites may be used for sensing application.
