The various processes under REACh gradually come to maturity. Registration has one more round to go, but already various evaluation actions and the initiation of regulatory processes are making themselves felt throughout the chemical industry. After a short overview of these processes, the implications for epoxy resin technology will be discussed. In particular we will concentrate on the status of Hexahydrophthalic anhydride (HHPA) and Methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride (MHHPA). These are two epoxy hardeners that have been identified as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) and may be listed on REACh Annex XIV. This would necessitate users to look for alternatives and as long as these are not available, further use will only possible if an authorisation is granted. It will be discussed which implications this may have and how companies can prepare for this.
