SPECTRAL CHARACTERISTICS OF OIL PALM LEAVES USING SPECTRORADIOMETER IN INDONESIA

The Oil Palm plantation in Indonesia had led the peatlands dry and it is reported to be one of the factors of the peat fire. Therefore grasping of the present plantation development status is necessary. The objective of this study is to clarify the difference in spectral reflectance characteristics between leaf of Peat Swamp Forest (PSF) and leaf of Oil Palm. The possibility of plant classification from the surface spectral information was indicated from NDSI difference maps between PSF and Oil Palm leaves. The difference of NDSI maps between PSF and Oil Palm were shown only with the two year-old Oil Palm.
